The GTFD upgraded the fire to a working still level fire to receive assistance from other area fire departments, due to residents being trapped and the fire鈥檚 extension from the dryer.

鈥淭wo of the residents were able to be quickly assisted out of the residence by the first arriving unit,鈥 said the release. 鈥淭he third was removed by firefighters shortly after.鈥

According to the release, one of the residents was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

鈥淚n addition, there was one animal that was unable to be found after the fire,鈥 said the release.

The firefighters were able to contain the fire to the room of origin, which took about 250 gallons of water to extinguish. Four of the residential units were affected by smoke damage, which is estimated to be $100,000 of damage from both the fire and smoke.

鈥淭he cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not suspicious in nature,鈥 said the release. 鈥淚nitial investigation shows the fire originated at or in the dryer on the first floor.鈥
