KEWASKUM — The village announced on Wednesday that water and sewer utility work continues on U.S. Highway 45 both north and south of Main Street this week.

Crews north of Main Street are continuing to work their way from the north end of the project southward, installing water and sanitary sewer laterals, according to the village. South of Main Street, crews will continue to move southward, as well, with water main installation toward the creek at the firehouse.

According to the village, once this stretch is completed, the final water and sanitary sewer main will run from the creek to Highway H West.

Businesses and restaurants in downtown Kewaskum remain open during the construction project. They can be accessed from sidewalks where construction workers are not currently working. Construction hours are from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the day.

"For access to downtown businesses, use either Forest, North of Knights [Avenue] to cross Hwy 45 at First or Second Street, depending on where crews are working," said the village update.
