STL performs metallographic analysis, both macrographic and micrographic, on several kind of materials, by means of state-of-the-art optical and electron microscopes.

The laboratories are equipped to determine the corrosion resistance of metallic materials and of coatings.

The evaluation of the causes of failure of a component implies not only the metallographic analysis of the component itself, but often also the chemical analysis, determination of mechanical characteristics, structural verifies and the analysis of the service conditions of the process.
