To the editor: For Americans who need to blame the rest of society for their own shortcomings and insecurities, Trump is a savior. We have seen this repeated throughout history. After 10 years, though, one can only question the judgment, character and intellect of his followers. Without this group Donald is just another bad reality show host ... with bad hair.
Recent letters about Biden telling lies are poignant examples of that mindset. Why talk about lies when your hero, Trump, is and will always be the biggest liar in American history? Biden can live 1,000 years and not tell that many untruths. As the right gives no support to their opinions, I will. Google "Washington Post 30,573 Trump lies." That was just while in office; he has since upped the pace.
Trump can only maintain his base by keeping them barefoot, pregnant, out of school or controlling what they learn with lies. After running his own fake university scam, Trump made it harder for students who were misled by predatory for-profit colleges to get loan relief. He praised the Supreme Court for blocking Biden’s plan to relieve student debt for low- and middle-income borrowers. He wants to freeze Pell grants to low-income students and end all student debt relief. Look it up "Trump’s Project 2025: Make College More Expensive and Inaccessible."
Since 2000, long before Joe, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Mercury, Saturn and six Ford passenger cars have disappeared. Conversely, since 2010 over 30 electric vehicle and hybrid manufacturers have emerged. It’s not Biden telling you what you can drive, it’s called free market supply and demand! Government controls over smoking, drinking, speed limits, seat belt and airbags are not constitutional rights. Trump and the right do want to control your sexual preference, who you can marry and (sometimes) reproductive rights. They want control of what schools can tell you about this, our country’s history and science.
It’s that whole mindset.
