WAUKESHA — Mountain Top Coffee ownerÌýNathan Darrow announced on social media Sunday the formal closure ofÌýMountain Top, which is located atÌý363 W. Main St. in downtown Waukesha.

But coffee lovers won't have to wait long to get their caffeine fix as Darrow also announced the space will be taken over by a new venture calledÌýCopilot Coffee Co, which will be led by a former Mountain Top barista named Amelia.

In a note to customers, Darrow thanked the coffee shop's loyal customer base and hard-working staff for supporting the business.

"I’ve had so many great experiences throughout the years being involved in this community. I’ve learned that not only great times, but also tragedy, can bring communities closer together. I’m so grateful to say I have been a part of the Waukesha community."

Mountain Top opened in the space in July 2019. Before that, the space was occupied by Roots Coffeebar and Cafe, owned byÌýHeidi Laatsch and Hillary Devries. Devries and Laatsch also own a Roots location in Oconomowoc.

Darrow worked at both Roots locations, eventually becoming general manager of the Waukesha location before taking it over in 2019.

In the announcement on Sunday, Darrow said the new business will honor Mountain Top gift cards. The business will be introducing a new rewards program, but you will be able to transfer old rewards points from Mountain Top into the new system.
