WAUKESHA — Waukesha South’s baseball team staved off a late rally to hold off Catholic Memorial 7-6 in a Classic 8 Conference game Thursday.

The Blackshirts took a 7-4 lead into the final frame, but after conceding a pair of runs secured the final two outs for the victory.

Michael Petfalski and Christian Karklus each had two hits, while Alex Montez drove in two for South. Ben Jimenez was the victor, while Gabe Peters got the save.

Both teams scored twice in the opening inning, but South went ahead for good with three runs in the third.
