Alec C. Wolter, age 83

Alec Carl Wolter, age 83, was called to his heavenly Father on Saturday, February 24th.Ìý He died peacefully with his loved ones at his side.

Al was born on June 24, 1940, in Watertown, Wisconsin. His family moved to Cedarburg when he was 10. He graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1958. He served as an air policeman in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a technical sergeant. For several years he worked as a dog handler.Ìý Among his assignments were Anchorage, Alaska, The Pentagon in Washington DC, Izmir, Turkey (where he and Claudia were married on December 14, 1975), and Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.

Al was a long-time resident of Cedarburg (50 plus years). He worked in property maintenance at Wisconsin Memorial Park and Cardinal Stritch University.

He was a member of the Cedarburg Lions Club (recipient of Melvin Jones Fellow award for humanitarian services), the Cedarburg American Legion, and a Kentucky Colonel.

Al enjoyed yearly fishing fly-in trips in Canada (fish on!), golf, bowling, cribbage tournaments, and trips to the casino. He was a jack of all trades and master of a few (pistol and rifle marksman, winning a car with a hole in one, and mushing dogs in Alaska). He was generous to a fault and stubborn to a fault.

He will be dearly missed by his many friends and family. He and his sister-in-law, Celia, walk with the albino deer.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Dorothy Wolter and his brother, Frank. He is survived by his loving wife Claudia (Squirt) married 48 years, 2 months and 10 days, sister Sharon Oberheu (Roy), brother Jerome (Andrea), nephew Mike Oberheu (Janel), and nephew Steve Wolter (Kim).

His was a life well lived.
